* The Jack Miller Center for Peripheral Neuropathy was dedicated on September 21. Dean James Madara; President Don Randel; and Brian Popko, the Jack Miller Professor in Neurological Diseases and Center Director, hosted Miller family members and friends at tours of the Center and dinner at the Randel home.
* Fifty friends and donors of General Surgery attended a dinner on October 1. Presentations by John Alverdy, M.D., Associate Professor and Chief of the Surgical Obesity Program, and surgical oncology fellow Eric Kimchi, the Section's Dennis Nardoni Fellow, emphasized the importance of philanthropy for research.
* On October 25, the first annual Comer Kids' Classic, a 5K run/walk and kids' dash along Chicago's lakefront, helped raise money for the Comer Children's Hospital.
