Dr. Haney joined us in April 2003 from Duke University, where he was the Roy T. Parker Professor and Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He received his B.S.E.E. from Penn in 1968 and his M.D. from the University of Arizona in 1972. Following his arrival, Dr. Haney has focused on strengthening the department with new faculty (Gynoncology, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility and Urogynecology), with several renovation projects (administrative offices, DCAM Clinics, Labor and Delivery and a new IVF Center on 47th Street) and planned expansions of prenatal diagnostic capability through satellite Fetal Diagnostic Centers.
Dr. Haney assumes leadership of this important group at a critical juncture. He succeeds Dr. Fabrizio Michelassi, who did a superb job in getting the Committee underway, developing its initial strategy and in providing oversight of our $10 million investment in new clinical program development. Dr. Haney will be tasked with continuing and extending these very important efforts, and he and the Executive Committee are sure to meet with great success.
