The Spark Discovery, Illuminate Life website can be found at www.sparkdiscovery.uchicago.edu and offers news about the campaign, features programs at the forefront of science and medicine, and tells stories of some of the visionary philanthropists who are making a real impact. The site also includes a secure on-line giving option. Gifts can be made to the campaign in general or designated to specific departments or sections.
Faculty will present three topics at Discovery and Impact dinners next spring – infectious diseases and bioterrorism, breast cancer, and minimally invasive surgery. These programs offer prospective contributors the opportunity to be inspired by breakthrough work at Chicago.
The Forefront Fund is a new annual giving program aimed at broad participation and chaired by trustees Stanford Goldblatt, Kevin Brown, and Deborah Bricker. It will provide ongoing, discretionary support for both the BSD and the Hospitals.
Spark Discovery, Illuminate Life is on target to reach its goal of $550 million goal by December 2006. As of October 1, approximately $405 million has been raised!
