Education

Feature story Holly Humphrey, Professor of Medicine and Dean for Medical Education, was honored with the 2005 Dema C. Daley Founders Award from the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine. The award honors a physician in internal medicine who has achieved national recognition as an educator, innovator, and leader. Pictured left are Humphrey and Arthur Rubenstein, M.D., former Chair of Medicine at the University of Chicago and currently Executive Vice President, University of Pennsylvania for the Health System and Dean, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, who presented the award.

While it is no secret that the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine is among the best medical schools in the country, the institution recently received external affirmation of that fact by earning a vote from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education to continue accreditation of the educational program leading to the M.D. degree for the full eight year term. This vote, the best bestowed by the LCME, speaks volumes to the commitment the institution, faculty and staff have to providing the best possible education to the medical students who have chosen to continue their studies here.

"The dedication demonstrated by our faculty, students, and staff towards our institution and to education itself is clearly reflected in this best of all possible outcomes," says Holly Humphrey, M.D., Dean for Medical Education and Professor of Medicine.
